MORE ROOM FOR TEACHING

The problem: the lesson exists, but the paper does not

You already have the notes, explanations and examples. Turning them into an assignment is another piece of preparation: choose the question mix, write the wording, decide marks and prepare an answer key. Reusing an old paper can be awkward when the scope of the lesson has changed.

The blank page is therefore not a lack of teaching material. It is the work of turning that material into something students can answer and you can assess fairly.

How Quesly helps: a draft you can work from

Quesly takes readable notes and drafts questions, an answer key and marking criteria. Teachers choose the number and types of questions and the marks. The source does not need to contain ready-made questions: the paper is generated from the lesson material.

Saved syllabus and textbook notes can be kept in My Library for reuse. Read the selected text before using it in a new assignment, especially if your class has only covered part of the material.

Make the first draft smaller than the final ambition

For example, start with a short science lesson and a few questions covering different ideas. Check whether an MCQ has exactly one defensible answer. For a written question, ask what evidence a student needs to provide to earn each available mark.

If a question is outside the lesson, the fact that it sounds sensible is not a reason to keep it. Likewise, a marking point should not demand extra knowledge that the question never asked for. The draft is useful only when the teacher can review it against the intended learning.

Know what a draft does—and does not—solve

A generated first pass can organise the preparation work, but it does not certify question quality. Quesly has not demonstrated a specific time saving or independently validated assessment accuracy.

Use a small teacher-reviewed trial to decide whether the workflow fits your class. Keep track of edits and uncertain questions. That turns the first assignment into useful evidence for your own decision, rather than relying on a polished PDF as proof of quality.
